We recently learned of an uptick in a scam known as home title fraud, wherein someone steals another person’s identity to obtain title to their home and use it to secure loans using the homeowner’s equity, as collateral.  This has also sparked an increase in advertisements for service providers claiming to be able to protect homeowners from this scam.
