Voter Registration Deadlines 

June 23, 2026 Primary Election Deadlines

MAIL REGISTRATION (N.Y. Election Law Section 5-210(3))

Applications must be received by a board of elections no later than June 13, 2026 to be eligible to vote in the Primary Election.

IN PERSON REGISTRATION (N.Y. Election Law Sections 5-210, 5-211, 5-212)

You may register at your local board of elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, on any business day throughout the year but, to be eligible to vote in the Primary Election, your application must be received no later than June 13, 2026.

November 3, 2026 General Election Deadlines

Applications must be received by the board of elections no later than October 24, 2026, to be eligible to vote in the General Election.

IN PERSON REGISTRATION (N.Y. Election Law Sections 5-210, 5-211, 5-212)
You may register at your local board of elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, on any business day throughout the year but, to be eligible to vote in the General Election, your application must be received no later than October 24, 2026.

2026 Voting by Absentee Ballot Deadlines

Voters can track their absentee ballot via the Board of Elections' Poll Site Search, Voter Registration, and Mail Ballot Tracker available at https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov/

You may return the ballot in any of the following ways:

For the June 23, 2026 Primary Election:

1. Put it in the mail ensuring it receives a postmark no later than June 23rd. Must be received by the County Board of Elections no later than June 30th.
2. Bringing it to your County Board of Elections Office no later than June 23rd by 9pm.
3. Bringing it to an early voting poll site in your county between June 13th and June 21st.
4. Bringing it to a poll site in your county on June 23rd by 9pm.

For the November 3, 2026 General Election:

1. Put it in the mail ensuring it receives a postmark no later than November 3rd. Must be received by the County Board of Elections no later than November 10th.
2. Bringing it to your County Board of Elections Office no later than November 3rd by 9pm.
3. Bringing it to an early voting poll site in your county between October 24th and November 1st.
4. Bringing it to a poll site in your county on November 3rd by 9pm.
