Blue Cross Website Hacked

As you may have heard, Anthem, the parent company of Empire BlueCross BlueShield (EBCBS), Suffolk County EMHP’s hospital and medical administrator, was the victim of a highly-sophisticated cyber-attack. EBCBS has informed EMHP that its member data was accessed and it could include that of Suffolk County employees.
There is further information including a memo with frequently asked questions on the Suffolk County EMHP website at www.emhp.org/Home .
IMPORTANT: As EBCBS identifies those members whose data may have been compromised they will be notifying those members via US mail. They are NOT notifying members via email or phone. If you receive an email or phone call alleging to be from Anthem or Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield it is a phishing scam. DO NOT respond or give any further info to any such requests.
Please refer to the EMHP website for the latest info. The SOA office does not have any additional info. If I get more info I will pass it along ASAP.
Fraternally,

John P Cowie

EMHP Coverage for Adult Children up to age 26

As you are aware, Health insurance coverage through EMHP has been available for dependent children that are full time college students. Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) coverage was expanded to include adult children up to age 26 if they have no other health insurance. Effective 1/1/2014 coverage is available for dependent children up to age 26 regardless of whether or not they are covered under their own or a spouse’s employer sponsored coverage. EMHP would become secondary to his/her primary insurance. In order to receive this coverage you must complete and submit the form titled RECERTIFICATION FOR COVERAGE OF ADULT CHILD(REN) AGE 19-26. The form is available on the EMHP website under the EBU Forms section. http://www.emhp.org/

Please see the attached AEM for additional details.

Any questions call John Cowie at the SOA office.
